About the Property


Inside: The house is made up of three separate units with independent access. In the main house, on one side you'll find the living room kitchen and a bathroom, on the other is a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom and a second bedroom with two single beds. Attached to this main house is a suite with a double bedroom, a bathroom and a sitting area. Across the lawn is a converted barn with a double bedroom and en-suite bathroom.

Outside: The house is situated on a hill that dominates the rolling farmland around it. A mixture of olive and fruit groves, vineyards and woods, peppered with the typical Trulli cones of traditional farm buildings make this an extremely agreeable spot from which to just sit and take in the view. The gardens at Fico d'India are extensive with several areas of lawn to one side of the house. In a panoramic position, is a shaded dining area with barbeque, and just behind that is the large pool, which also affords great views.

Think About

There is no air conditioning at Fico d'India, but the thick walls of the original stone buildings make it superfluous if the house is managed in proper, ecological Mediterranean style.


The Area

Exploring the local Area

Fico d'India is set in the heart of the Valle d'Itria, about 10 minutes drive from the charming town of Cisternino. The geography and views in and of this area are what many consider to be the "typical" Puglia. Rolling hills, groves of centuries-old olive trees, trullo cones everywhere you look, whitewashed towns bleached further by the southern italian sun.
It's close to the beach too. A 20-minute drive from Fico d'India will take you to the long sandy beaches of the Adriatic coast, where you can either pitch up where you find a space, or check in at the stylish Coccaro Beach lido, where Think Puglia clients will enjoy privileged access.
Towns not to miss in the vicinity include Ostuni, the whitest of all the whitewashed towns nearby, Locorotondo (literally the round place) and Alberobello (where you will see enough trulli to last a lifetime).
